Positive Attitude and Positive Performance
Training to Trial – Success in the Ring!
A Two-Day seminar presented by Petra Ford, PT, CCRT
This is a common dilemma. Our dogs look great as long as we use food as a reward. But as soon as we put the food away and step in into the ring, we have a completely different dog. Lack of food often causes dogs to deflate and “stress down”. Some dogs can push through, but it doesn’t always look pretty.
It’s a common misconception that dogs will “only give effort” if we have food. That training with food doesn’t hold up. That’s not true. Dogs can be taught not only to work without food in the ring, but to do so with joy and enthusiasm. The key is creating a confident dog that understands, no food does NOT mean they are wrong.
Description Date: Thursday, Jan. 3, 2018 Time: 3pm Pacific Time (Click here for time at FDSA (Pacific Time).
Fee: $19.95 - Registration required PRIOR to scheduled presentation time.
In this webinar, Petra will teach you how to develop transitions to move between exercises and pre-cues for obedience, both designed specifically to build confidence and intense engagement in the competition ring.
Engagement work and pre-cues are developed by building simple tricks into well understood patterns. Working with our dog’s natural desire to control their outcomes and by giving them choice in the training process, we can teach our dogs to thrive in the game called “competition!”
Come join national champion Petra Ford and fill in the missing pieces of your training puzzle!
Note: A recorded version will be made available in your webinar library within 24-72 hours after the live presentation. For more information on your library please view our FAQ.
